The MSA congratulates our member Fred Shapiro, DO, who is an associate professor of anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and the director of faculty development and promotion, research and medical student education at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
In March 2023, Dr. Fred Shapiro received the lifetime achievement Community Clinician of the Year award from the Suffolk District in recognition of his clinical and academic leadership in healthcare innovation, mentorship and education of the next generation.
Dr. Shapiro was featured in an interview by Daniel J. Waters, DO, MA titled "No Limits: A conversation with Dr. Shapiro".

Congratulations to Ruma Bose, MD from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Bose has been awarded the one Research in Education Grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) for their work on "Developing Proficiency in Rescue Echo Guided Crises Management Using a Modular Competency Based Curriculum for Advanced Learners in Anesthesia".
