The Medical Student Liaison is a newly established role within the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists to represent and engage medical students from all medical schools in the Commonwealth of Massachussetts. These schools include: 

  • Tufts University School of Medicine
  • Harvard Medical School
  • UMass Chan Medical School
  • Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine 


Here you will find resources for exploring the field of Anesthesiology as a medical student as well as how to get involved.

Medical Student Organization at a glance: 

  • The American Society of Anesthesiologist created the Medical Student Component (MSC) in order to represent medical students at the national level.
  • The annual meeting of the ASA hosts a session for medical students where Delegates from each medical school travel to vote on the year's agenda and the new executive committee members.
  • Recently, the Medical Student Liaison position for state societies was implemented that serves to enhance medical student engagement at the state and national levels. 

Get Involved 

  • Every medical school in Massachussetts has their own Anesthesia Interest Groups (AIG) that hosts regular information sessions, airway workshops, and ultrasound workshops. Contact them directly to learn more! 
  • Apply to lead your school's AIG! 
  • Delegates from your medical school to travel to the national medical student meeting and are selected by your school's AIG. Apply through them! 
  • Apply to a position on the ASA MSC Executive Committee and serve on the national level. Click Here!
